Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) & Behaviour Support Services (BSP)

Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) & Behaviour Support Services (BSP)

Marsden Therapy provides compassionate, evidence-based Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and Behaviour Support Practitioner (BSP) services for individuals experiencing behavioural, social, or emotional challenges.

Our experienced Behaviour Support Practitioners specialise in understanding the underlying reasons for behaviours of concern and developing practical, person-centred strategies that improve quality of life, independence, and overall wellbeing.

Individual Behaviour Support

At Marsden Therapy, we recognise that every behaviour has a purpose. Our BSP team conducts comprehensive functional behaviour assessments (FBA) to identify the triggers, patterns, and contributing factors behind challenging behaviours.

We develop personalised Behaviour Support Plans (BSP) that are proactive, strengths-based, and aligned with NDIS requirements.
Our plans and interventions support individuals with behaviours such as:

  • Emotional dysregulation

  • Aggression or physical outbursts

  • Self-injurious behaviours

  • Impulsivity

  • Social and communication difficulties

  • Anxiety-related behaviours

Using a Positive Behaviour Support framework, we focus on:

  • Skill building

  • Increasing independence

  • Teaching replacement behaviours

  • Enhancing communication

  • Improving emotional regulation

  • Creating supportive environments

Our goal is to build long-term capacity, reduce restrictive practices, and support participants in living meaningful and fulfilling lives.

Parent, Carer & Family Coaching

Family involvement is essential for sustainable change.
We work closely with parents, carers, and support networks to ensure strategies are consistent and effective across all settings.

Our team provides:

  • Behaviour coaching

  • Practical training

  • Emotional support

  • Guidance around implementing BSP strategies

  • Education around trauma-informed approaches

We aim to empower families with the confidence and skills to manage behaviours calmly, safely, and effectively.

School & Early Childhood Support

Behavioural challenges often impact learning and social participation. Marsden Therapy collaborates with schools, early learning centres, and daycare educators to ensure consistency and support across environments.

We offer:

  • Behaviour support education for teachers and educators

  • Strategies to manage behaviours of concern in classrooms

  • Training in regulation techniques

  • Support to create inclusive, calm, and structured learning environments

  • Collaborative action plans with teachers, parents, and therapists

Our focus is on helping educators understand behaviour, promote engagement, and support every child’s ability to thrive in learning settings.

Why Choose Us

Choose Marsden Therapy – your partners in fostering lasting, positive change. We understand that behavioural therapy is a continuous journey, extending far beyond the boundaries of our one-hour therapy sessions. The reality is, children spend most of their time outside the therapy room, and this is where real-life challenges and experiences happen. Therefore, our approach not only focuses on the individual’s behaviour but also emphasizes educating and coaching parents and carers. We empower them with the necessary knowledge, skills, and tools to extend the therapeutic interventions into everyday life, effectively turning the remaining 23/7 into valuable opportunities for learning and growth. By choosing Marsden Therapy, you’re investing in an inclusive and comprehensive service that supports not just the individual, but the entire support network around them, fostering an environment conducive to behavioural change and emotional well-being.
